The Sieben Polk Law Firm obtained a verdict from a St. Paul jury in Minnesota Distrcit Court against John Crane, Inc. on behalf of a mesothelioma victim and his wife.
The Sieben Polk client was exposed to asbestos gaskets and packing material manufactured by John Crane, Inc. while working for Northern States Power Company (now a subsidiary of Xcel Energy) in Minnesota from 1968 until 2000. The victim was diagnosed in 2007 with malignant mesothelioma, an incurable cancer caused by asbestos exposure. The jury found John Crane, Inc. negligent and awarded the family more than $4.6 million in damages.
Sieben Polk attorney, Richard LaVerdiere, says, “The dangers of asbestos have been known for many years. In spite of that, Crane continued to manufacture and sell its products containing asbestos without any warning to those workers who ultimately used their products.”
Sieben Polk attorney, Michael Strom, states, “Our trial team is greatful to the family for their courage and willingness to stand up to John Crane and to hold them accoutable. A Minnesota jury told John Crane that they ingnored their obligation to produce a safe product and that they are responsible to those they have injured.”
The victim and his family are thankful for a just verdict for his exposure to asbestos-containing products over a 35 year career as a machinist. They sincerely hope that the verdict will help facilitate settlement of pending cases between John Crane and other cancer victims.
