Bernie Dusich and Josh Tuchscherer of the Sieben Polk Law Firm obtained a settlement from a major hospital and neonatologist on behalf of a newborn medical malpractice victim and his family.
The Sieben Polk client was born premature. A line was place in the child’s right wrist in the radial artery to monitor blood gases. The line was discontinued after signs of arterial compromise. A week later, a neonatologist placed a line in the ulnar artery of the child’s right wrist. More than thirty hours after the ulnar line was placed, and fifteen hours after problems developed, the line was finally discontinued. Unfortunately, the blood supply to the child’s hand was cut-off and the child lost the fingers and thumb on his right hand.
The case was settled on a structured basis three weeks before trial. The Sieben Polk Law Firm client will receive an expected lifetime payment of $3,978,812.
