How high is your occupational asbestos exposure risk?

Nowadays, it's not uncommon to hear stories of people suffering adverse health conditions involving respiratory diseases, such as lung cancer. Some people in Minnesota believe their illnesses are directly relating to their smoking habits. Others say occupational asbestos exposure was the main culprit in their health-related problems.

Some jobs are more dangerous than others when it comes to potential asbestos-related harm. Those who work in shipyards or mines are especially at risk. Readers may be surprised to learn about some of the other types of high-risk jobs, however. For instance, art teachers may be prone to asbestos-related dangers because the microscopic particles may be contained in many of their art supplies.

Electricians, firefighters, factory workers and those who install drywall or insulation are also among workers typically listed at highest risk for asbestos injuries. The problem is that symptoms of asbestosis, mesothelioma and other illnesses often develop slowly, over time. This is why some people do not immediately notice a correlation between their illnesses and their jobs; in fact, by the time some asbestos-injured patients have been diagnosed, they no longer work at the same locations where their initial asbestos exposures occurred.

There are many other jobs that also place workers in Minnesota and elsewhere at risk for asbestos-related injuries. Occupational asbestos exposure often leads to asbestos litigation when those injured seek legal accountability against other parties deemed financially responsible for their illnesses. An experienced attorney can act on behalf of anyone wishing to pursue compensation for personal injury damages through the civil justice system.
