Developer fires abatement company in asbestos exposure situation

Any time construction on old buildings takes place in Minnesota or another state, there are always potential health concerns for workers and anyone else exposed to the construction areas in question. This is because old buildings often present asbestos exposure risks, especially regarding demolition and renovation types of work. Work on a particular construction project in another state has come to a halt because of problems related to asbestos.

The project involves two old buildings that are supposed to be converted into a 55,000 square foot medical facility. A company was hired by the project developer to remove asbestos from the premises. However, the developer recently fired the abatement company, saying his own company will become certified to do the work.

In the meantime, no further work can be done on the project until the asbestos situation is resolved. Many residents in the area say they've been wondering why construction work had started then suddenly stopped. There are strict laws regarding asbestos removal because of the widely known serious health risks associated with exposure to the microscopic particles contained in the material.

Asbestos exposure has caused many people, perhaps including some in Minnesota, to suffer irreparable health damage. Any person wishing to address legal problems associated with a particular situation may reach out for support by requesting a meeting with an experienced attorney. Sadly, many people who have suffered asbestos injuries in the past later determined that their illnesses would likely not have occurred were it not for another party or parties' negligence.
